HK, Macao students participate in Qianhai’s internship program

Around 60 Hong Kong and Macao students from Peking University, Sun Yat-sen University, Jinan University and Huaqiao University experienced work and life in Shenzhen through a summer internship program launched in Qianhai on Aug. 6.

The internship program was launched by the Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority to help Hong Kong and Macao students comprehensively experience the history, culture, work and life in Qianhai and the city.

The students paid a visit to renowned Shenzhen companies DJI and Tencent, where they learned about the reasons behind the companies’ rapid development as well as the city’s technological charm.

Hong Kong student Yeung Jin-bin said that the innovative products and services provided by companies like Tencent and DJI have made people’s work and life more convenient. “I think we young people can learn a lot from these companies and I will try to join them after graduation,” he said.

At the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub, Yang Haocheng, a member of the Shenzhen Recitation Artists Association, gave the students a lecture on new media communications and short video production, which is expected to help Hong Kong and Macao students record their unforgettable work and life moments and their own growth.

Ho Lok-tung, a Hong Kong student from Jinan University in Guangzhou, said: “The marvelous development speed of Qianhai and Shenzhen has shown the prosperity and vitality of the [Chinese] mainland, which makes more Hong Kong and Macao youths have a deeper sense of belonging and pride.”
