The Qianhai International Convention Center, which was completed in 366 days, showcases the “Qianhai Speed” and marks the urban development of Qianhai.

The center is covered by more than 1,200 color-glazed glass panes to mimic the glazed tile roof of a traditional Lingnan-style building. The interior design and decoration, inspired by the famous Cantonese musical score “Rosy Clouds Chasing the Moon,” demonstrates the traditional architectural aesthetics and characteristics of Qianhai.

Located to the north of Qianhai Boulevard and east of Bauhinia Park, the 40,000-square-meter convention center can host events such as government and business receptions as well as international exchange activities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

On Oct. 14, 2020, a grand gathering celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone was held at the center, where General Secretary Xi Jinping made an important speech in which he called for further reform and opening up of Shenzhen and the country to turn China into an even greater modern socialist country.

Currently, an exhibition in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone is on exhibit at the Qianhai Convention Center. The exhibition consists of four chapters, including “40 Years of Striving,” “Stride into a New Era,” “The Greater Bay Area Sets Sail,” and “Pilot Demonstration Zone Construction.” A total of 558 items in the 1,300-square-meter exhibition zone including historical photos, objects, charts, documents and sand tables demonstrate the history and achievements of Shenzhen over its past 40 years of development.
