Planned GZ-SZ Maglev to pass through Qianhai

A planned magnetic levitation rail between Shenzhen and Guangzhou will pass through Qianhai before being extended to Hong Kong, according to the Guangzhou Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau.

According to the bureau, the magnetic levitation rail will start from the Guangzhou East Railway Station in Tianhe District, extend southward through Guangzhou’s Nansha District, Bao’an and Qianhai in Shenzhen and end in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon.

Previously, there were three other routes being considered, in which the magnetic levitation rail would start at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and pass through various areas in Guangzhou.

With a designed speed of 600 kilometers per hour, the magnetic levitation rail will greatly shorten the traveling time between Guangzhou and Hong Kong to just 20 minutes.
