Construction started on 10 new projects with a total investment of 23.9 billion yuan (US$3.69 billion) in Qianhai on Feb. 24.

The third phase of the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub (E-hub) is one of the projects. Covering an area of 20,975 square meters in the Qianwan area, the third phase will have 190,000 square meters of floor space after completion. Designed by He Jingtang, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the third phase of the E-hub is a complex that consists of office space, an industrial exchange center, a one-stop service center, the commercial property and the talent housing.

It will serve as a core base of the integration of science and technology innovation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, deepening the cooperation between the two cities.

A new landmark also in the Qianwan area, the Qianhai Financial Holdings Building will host a number of Shenzhen and Hong Kong-funded financial enterprises to engage in financial innovation and industrial upgrading.

The landmark financial platform will have 82,000 square meters of office space and 11,700 square meters of commercial space.

A housing project of seven high-rises, including one for talent housing, on an area of about 27,000 square meters is also under construction in Qianwan.

Next to the Harrow International School and the to-be-built State-level museum, the housing complex features art, culture and living.

In addition, five public facilities, including four pedestrian overpasses and one cold station of Qianhai’s centralized cooling system, are under construction in the Guiwan area.

The overpasses will be built above the Menghai and Binhai boulevards, improving the efficiency of traffic surrounding the Guiwan Park.

The No. 4 cooling station will be built at the basement of Qianhai Exchange Plaza. After completion, it will provide cooling air to 19 million square meters of public space and help reduce the carbon emissions in the Guiwan area.
