EIGHTY-FOUR enterprises that are based in the Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone will receive a total of 17.46 million yuan (US$2.58 million) in subsidies from the Qianhai authority to cover their expenses responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The subsidies are aimed to cover the expenses on warehouse rent, employees’ transportation fees, customs clearance, insurance and anti-epidemic supplies, according to a related policy introduced in April by the Qianhai authority.

Under the policy, private companies that lease warehouses in the bonded zone, formerly known as Qianhaiwan Free Trade Port Area, will be eligible for a subsidy equivalent to 50 percent of the warehouse rental fees they paid for February and March on the condition that they will continue to provide value-added services such as logistics, warehousing, and customs clearance for imports and exports.

Employees who showed up at work in the bonded zone between Feb. 1 and March 31 will be subsidized 15 yuan per day for the period.

The list of the 84 enterprises has been publicized for public scrutiny through Sept. 22 after which the subsidies will be handed out to the enterprises.
