The three main areas of Qianhai and all high-rises in the free trade area will each be appointed a manager in charge regarding the control and prevention of the coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak, Tian Fu, director of the Authority of China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone Qianhai and Shekou Area, told a conference Monday afternoon.

Three area managers will be appointed by the Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority to oversee the Guiwan, Qianwan and Mawan areas. All high-rises and building complexes in Qianhai will also appoint a building manager to be responsible for seeing virus prevention and control work through. The new arrangements aim to establish a comprehensive network for virus prevention and control.

Tian said that the new management structure is an important part of the deployment of virus prevention and control measures as well as essential to helping Qianhai win the fight against the 2019-nCoV outbreak.

“The managers should fulfill their duties of counting the number of buildings in the area under their responsibility and establishing a grid-based prevention and control system to prevent importing, exporting and spreading the virus,” said Tian.

The managers are also required to formulate corresponding work and emergency plans in case of further outbreak and provide guidance on the resumption of construction work and school scheduled for Feb. 10 and Feb. 17, respectively.

A meeting of Qianwan building managers also convened yesterday afternoon to arrange specific job responsibilities for the new roles. The managers said that they will make virus prevention and control their top priority and carefully fulfill their duties to help Qianhai win the fight against the virus outbreak.
