On June 9, 61 students from Hong Kong met with the companies that have offered them internships at an event held in Shenzhen.
The 11 companies were led by Shenzhen Qianhai Development and Investment Holding Company Limited. At the event, the Hong Kong students wore T-shirts printed with the words “China Dream”. The meeting officiated the start of their month-long internships and the commencement of the 2015 Qianhai Summer Internship Programme for Hong Kong Students. It also signified the gradual realisation of the goals set forth in the “Wan Qian Bai Shi” plan.
The 61 students who signed up for internships in Shenzhen all chose companies located in the Qianhai Cooperation Zone, of which many are financial, construction, and legal companies. Students conveyed hopes of wanting to understand Qianhai better. They also expressed enthusiasm in being part of the development of Qianhai as Hong Kongers.
Corporate representatives also welcomed the students and expressed their will to create for them a warm and enthusiastic working environment. In doing so the companies hoped such collaboration will spark new excitement in Shenzhen-Hong Kong relations.
This internship arrangement was made possible by the joint collaboration of the Qianhai Authority, the Municipal Bureau of Hong Kong and Macau Affairs and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. In 2015, companies located in the Qianhai Authority Zone provided more than 700 internship opportunities to interns from Hong Kong. Qianhai has also been receiving batches of interns from Hong Kong throughout the summer. Such opportunities not only equipped the interns with professional working experiences but also enable a channel for Hong Kong youths to understand, participate in, and support the development of Qianhai.
