Runners awed by Qianhai charm at marathon finish

People who ran yesterday’s Shenzhen Marathon 2022, which had its finish set in Qianhai for the first time ever, said they were awed by the fast development and beauty of the free trade area.

A runner from Shandong Province who identified himself as Dashan (big mountain in English) said it was his first time to Qianhai. “The race is tiring but the scenery is beautiful and the people here are zealous. I love the high-rises, the fragrance in the air, and the sound of encouragement; I will definitely bring my family to visit Qianhai.”

It was also the first time for Ma Zhaojian from Yunnan Province to be in Qianhai. He said that when he passed through the Qianhai International Talent Hub, the applause and cheering made him feel like he was “No. 1,” and he was filled with strength to continue his run.

Local racer Li Dongxing said that he had brought his family to visit the Qianhai Stone Park two days before the marathon. Also, his former company moved its office to Qianhai. “I believe Qianhai is a hot spot with great development prospects and I hope to have the opportunity to work or start a business in Qianhai in the future,” he said.

Various activities were organized at three spots along the Qianhai part of the marathon route to cheer up the runners. A cheerleading team of 25 international volunteers, in pink uniform, performed in front of the Qianhai International Talent Hub for runners passing by.
