The Shenzhen Qianhai Internet Security Center was unveiled yesterday at the 21st China Internet Conference held at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center in Bao’an District.

The center was set up to serve as a professional technical force to assist with the network security supervision of the China (Qianhai) Internet Exchange, so as to promote the development of the exchange and the quality development of the information and communication industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The business scope of the Shenzhen Qianhai Internet Security Center includes monitoring the network operation, service quality, and data security of the internet exchange, and carry out the prevention, identification, early warning, and coordinated disposal of network security incidents.

Inaugurated in April last year, the China (Qianhai) Internet Exchange was the first national-level communication infrastructure in Shenzhen to promote the agglomeration and development of Shenzhen’s internet and digital economy industries, facilitate the integrated development of the digital economy in the Greater Bay Area, and provide support for Shenzhen to build a world-class business environment.

Thus far, the internet exchange has a 1Tbps (Terabits Per Second) switching capability and 3.4Tbps access capability as approved and required by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and can provide 24 100GE (Gigabit Ethernet), 100 10GE, and 32 GE access ports, with a cumulative port bandwidth of 2.93Tbps and a peak traffic of 313.1Gbps (Gigabits Per Second).

Compared with traditional exchange centers, the new-type of internet exchange in Qianhai has higher complexity and security risks in terms of interconnection scenarios and traffic flow, and is subject to greater risks and threats of attacks and illegal dissemination of sensitive information; these concerns are directly addressed by the security center. The establishment of the Shenzhen Qianhai Internet Security Center is conducive for Shenzhen to explore cross-border data transactions and further open up its international Internet services, thus providing enterprises with a world-class internet communication environment.
