An online trial system for intellectual property right cases integrating blockchain, AI and cloud computing technologies went online at the Qianhai Cooperation Zone People’s Court yesterday.

Under the help of the new system, IPR disputes can be handled in a concentrated manner, in that all the judicial proceedings including case filing, mediation, delivery and court trial can be done online. The judgement document can be intelligently generated and electronically delivered by the system.

The system is also capable of fixing evidence using blockchain technology. All data flow is recorded on the blockchain, and the electronic evidence can be submitted and verified by litigants.

The establishment of an IPR case database is another feature of the system. The judgement documents will be automatically uploaded to the court’s trial system, and judges can query and compare different cases in the database.

Bian Fei, president of Qianhai Court, said the development of the system is an effort made to further improve a fair, efficient, accurate and complete judicial protection system in Qianhai and is of great significance to assisting Shenzhen’s high-quality and sustainable development.

In the future, Qianhai Court will explore the establishment of a cross-border assistance mechanism for IPR cases and continue to enhance the overall efficiency of judicial protection for IPR.

The system was jointly developed by the Qianhai Court, China (Shenzhen) Intellectual Property Protection Center, Beijing Feng Tiao Li Shun Technology Development Co. Ltd., and Tencent Group.
