Work on intercity railway section gets green light

Construction on the Qianhai-Pingdi section of Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity Railway has recently been approved by the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

The 58-kilometer section starts from Qianhai Bonded Area and ends at Pingdi Subdistrict, Longgang District, passing through core areas and urban clusters in Nanshan, Longhua, Longgang districts in Shenzhen and Fenggang in Dongguan. The section has 11 stations with designed speed of 160 kilometers per hour.

The section’s construction, which will last for five years, will be done by a company jointly funded by Shenzhen and Dongguan governments. The project’s estimated cost is about 51.7 billion yuan (US$8.13 billion).
