- Qianhai is a great landing spot for us: entrepreneur

The Central Government of China is promoting the development of Qianhai because it’s a great location for promoting foreign investment as well as Macao and Hong Kong companies, Alex Wesley, an American entrepreneur in Qianhai, told Shenzhen Daily in an interview Sept. 10.
“There are a lot of overseas companies in Qianhai and it is great that we can grow together,” Wesley said.
According to Wesley, Qianhai is a great “landing spot” for his company because they can find the suppliers needed for their product — a 24-inch (60.96-centimeter) portable and foldable display in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
“Our product is difficult to make as it has a lot of unique components such as the screen’s fabric, the retractable arms, the projector and the chassis. We need to work with more than 10 key components suppliers and only in the GBA can we find most of these parts’ suppliers,” he said.
This is only the third month after Wesley registered and moved his company into the Zebras, a startup incubator at the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub.
Wesley said another important reason for him to choose Qianhai is its favorable policies. Before coming to Qianhai, he and his Chinese partner Zhu Shengliang registered a company in the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks.
“Qianhai provides one-to-one fund matching with the 700,000-yuan (US$108,628) subsidy we received from the Hong Kong authority,” Wesley said.
