Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone Phase II put into operation

A container truck carrying imported goods from Diageo, the world's largest wine merchant, drove into the second phase of the Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone on Aug. 26, marking the start of the official operation of the bonded zone.

Zhang Yong, director of the Qianhai authority, said at the operating ceremony that Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone plays an important role in promoting the development and further opening up of Qianhai, and serves as an important shipping platform for trade system innovation, as well as an important logistics hub for building a new development pattern.

“Based on the bonded zone, Qianhai will continue to deepen the reform of the market-oriented allocation of factors, expand space for industrial development, standardize the development of offshore trade, and promote the independent and orderly flow of production factors, so as to promote a new round of all-round and high-level opening up of Qianhai,” Zhang said.

Tu Lin, deputy chief of the Shenzhen Customs, said the customs will supervise the zone in accordance with the law and continue to innovate customs clearance supervision systems to make new contributions to the construction of a more competitive comprehensive bonded zone and a high-level, opening up portal.

The Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone was established by consolidating and optimizing the Qianhaiwan Free Trade Port, with a planned area of 2.9 square kilometers. Over the past five years, the import and export volume of the bonded zone surged by 276 percent, with an average annual growth rate of 55 percent.

In 2019, the bonded zone was honored as “a demonstration zone for high-quality development in Guangdong Province.”
