Twelve teams participating in the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot (FDI Moot) Shenzhen 2021 stood out from the 42 teams on Aug. 15 to advance to the global round of the competition.

FDI Moot Shenzhen is one of the three major moot court events in the world. This year’s contest was hosted by the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration from July 30 to Aug. 15.

Compared with that of last year, this year’s event has five major features.

First, the event has become a fully qualified event in China, which is the only channel for Chinese teams to advance to the global round of FDI Moot.

Second, the number of participating universities is twice that of last year’s competition, because the event has attracted a number of university teams from Hong Kong and Macao.

Third, this year’s event received professional support from 26 international organizations, government agencies, internationally renowned arbitration institutions and legal professional bodies including ICSID, UNCITRAL RCAP and ICC Court; academic support from 28 domestic universities including Peking University, Tsinghua University and the University of Hong Kong; and legal support from 11 domestic and overseas law firms.

Fourth, 343 legal professionals from 57 countries and regions around the world formed a high-level referee team.

Fifth, the organizer invited the Hong Kong Ebram International Online Dispute Resolution Center as a technical support organization to provide an online platform with high confidentiality, security and convenience for the online point race.
