Qianhai to increase public housing supply

The land planning authority has released adjusted planning for 11 land lots to raise funds for the construction of new Metro lines and increase the supply of new homes, especially public housing.

The Nanshan Administration Bureau of Shenzhen Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau on Aug. 2 released the planned rezoning for 11 land plots in Qianhai and areas around the Dananshan Mountain and the Xiaonanshan Mountain.

According to the adjusted planning, the dominant functions of most of the lands have been changed from commercial and industrial development into residential use. Following the adjustment, the construction area of public housing will account for 50 percent of the total residential construction area.

The land plot 23-27 covers a ground area of 25,414 square meters. It consists of the original plot 23-27 (originally for Metro projects and new-pattern industry use) and the original 23-28 plot (originally for Metro projects and commercial use). After the adjustment, the combined land lot will be used to build residential apartments.

The land plot 23-28, originally for commercial use, has also been adjusted as residential land. It covers a ground area of 22,385 square meters.

In addition, the adjustment has also increased educational facilities such as schools. The number of classes of a nine-year school has been expanded from 54 to 75. A kindergarten that has six classes has been adjusted to 18 classes. Another six-class kindergarten will be constructed on a newly added residential plot.

The adjusted planning is now soliciting opinions from the public.
