The Shenzhen Qianhai International Commercial Mediation Center (SQICMC) recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Swiss Chinese Law Association (SCLA) and the Geneva International Dispute Institute (GIDI) to jointly promote cross-border mediation.

According to the agreement, the three parties will establish a regular exchange mechanism and hold conferences, seminars and forums on a regular basis to jointly promote commercial mediation cooperation, mutual recognition of mediators and trainings for mediators.

SQICMC is a nongovernmental nonprofit unit specializing in commercial mediation services approved by the Civil Affairs Bureau of Shenzhen.

Currently, SQICMC has 116 mediators. Among them, over 40 are from Hong Kong, Macao and foreign countries. It is committed to establish a system of international commercial mediation rules that benchmark against Hong Kong, Macao and international practices and reflect Shenzhen and Chinese characteristics.

Founded in Geneva in 2019, SCLA is an international lawyer association that has 200 members from over 19 countries and regions. The association aims to strengthen legal understanding and cooperation between Europe and China by promoting exchanges between lawyers and scholars, as well as between public and private sectors.

GIDI was initiated by SCLA in February this year, which aims to make mediation an effective dispute settlement mechanism around the world. The institute also strives to promote intercultural cooperation and exchanges among mediators through training.
