Ferry terminal, checkpoint to be set up in Qianhai

A ferry terminal and a checkpoint will be built in Qianhai, it was disclosed in the recently released 14th Five-year Plan for the Development of China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone, as presented by the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province.

A helipad will also be included in the ferry terminal, from where ferry and helicopter routes will be operated between Qianhai and Hong Kong and Macao. The planned ferry terminal and checkpoint are expected to tighten connections within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

According to the plan, Qianhai will join hands with Hong Kong to build an international new trade center, an international high-end shipping service center, an international legal service center, an international commercial dispute resolution center, a pilot demonstration window for the opening of China’s financial industry, a pilot zone for cross-border RMB business innovation, and an experimental platform for comprehensive deeper reform and innovation of the GBA and the pilot demonstration zone of socialism with characteristics in Shenzhen.

The Department of Commerce is now soliciting opinions from the public on the plan.
