City’s commercial mediation association inaugurated in Qianhai

The Shenzhen Commercial Mediation Association (SCMA), first of its kind in China, was inaugurated in Qianhai on May 21.

SCMA will be overseen by the Justice Bureau of Shenzhen and receive guidance from the Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court, audiences were told at the inauguration ceremony.

Liu Guilin, vice director of the Qianhai Authority, said that the SCMA will be conducive to the further integration of the commercial mediation resources in Qianhai and Hong Kong, and to the formulation of standardized and market-oriented commercial mediation rules.

Liu also stressed that SCMA will strengthen cooperation with its counterparts in Hong Kong and Macao, and cultivate talents with international commercial mediation expertise.

Cao Hailei, a member of the Party committee of the Justice Bureau of Shenzhen said the establishment of SCMA is another innovative measure for the rule-of-law construction of Shenzhen and will serve as a platform for both the exchange for the city’s commercial mediation organizations and the formulation and standardization of industry rules.

After the inauguration ceremony, delegates and scholars from several governmental and non-governmental legal departments shared insights on the topics “Prospects for the Development of Commercial Mediation System” and “Exchange and Cooperation in Commercial Mediation in the Greater Bay Area”.
