A brick-and-mortar duty-free experience store started its trial operation and opened its door to customers in the Shenzhen-Hong Kong business logistics town in Qianhai on May 1. An online duty-free store was also launched concurrently, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported Thursday.

The duty-free shop, TIMES DF, covers a business area of 445 square meters and was designed by top international designers. It offers products from sections such as liquor, fragrances, cosmetics, specialty products and children’s toys.

By the time a Daily reporter visited the offline store May 1, products including liquor, perfumes and cosmetics were already put on shelves. A staffer with the store told the Daily that other products are being stocked and will soon be available.

It is worth noting that offline payment is unavailable at the moment, and the orders should be placed through the online store’s WeChat miniprogram

“深免全球购,” according to the Daily.

Customers can find the goods they need in the offline experience store and then place an order by directly scanning the product’s bar code with a mobile phone.

According to public information, TIMES DF is a cross-border e-commerce retail and shopping platform launched by Shenzhen Duty Free Group in the Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

The online duty-free store provides direct delivery service for customers from across the country under customs supervision.

According to relevant regulations, the annual orders of cross-border retail imports for individuals are capped at 26,000 yuan (US$4,014), and the upper limit for a single purchase is 5,000 yuan.
