Shared parking lot in Mawan improves parking efficiency

The utilization rate of the underground parking lot in a Mawan neighborhood has increased by about 40 percent as 94 percent of the 1,600 parking spaces have been shared among people in the adjacent office buildings.

In order to maximize the land uses, Block 3 of the 19th unit in Mawan piloted a multi-unit overall development model. The underground parking lot spans all the seven adjacent office buildings to offer more parking places.

Currently, five of the seven buildings are connected to the smart integrated parking lot operation system operated by the Qianhai Smart Transportation Operation and Technology Co., Ltd.

“The Heung Kong Financial Center has nearly 3,000 office workers but only 200-some parking spaces. The available parking places for the office workers have increased by more than 20 percent after the integrated operation system was put into uses,” said Zhang Zhongcheng, general manager of the commercial management project of Heung Kong Financial Center.

The operator of the car park has also designed a complete parking fee settlement and allocation system integrating IoT, cloud computing and other advanced technologies to precisely determine the ownership of parking fees through identifying and matching the movement trajectory of the vehicles.
