Qianhai-based Hong Kongers Chan Sing and Kwok Wai-keung were among 80 young individuals who were honored “Shenzhen Outstanding Youth,” according to a list unveiled recently.

Chan is one of the first group of Hong Kong entrepreneurs to start a business in Qianhai. He has set up several companies in Shenzhen with his partners in the six years after he settled in the free trade area.

Chan has become a role model for young people from Hong Kong who finds career success on the Chinese mainland. He said he hoped to help attract more Hong Kongers to Qianhai with his own entrepreneurship experience.

Another honored Hong Kong entrepreneur co-founded R-Guardian in Qianhai back in 2016. His company produces smart GPS luggage that can be tracked in real time. R-Guardian addresses the issue that some 5 million pieces of luggage worldwide go missing annually. The company was accredited a national high-tech firm in 2019.

The honor of “Shenzhen Outstanding Youth” was jointly initiated by Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League and Shenzhen Youth Federation to commend young people with outstanding contributions to the city’s development.
