A campaign on the protection of intellectual property was jointly organized by the Qianhai authority and several other government agencies April 22 to mark The World Intellectual Property Day, which falls on tomorrow. More than 100 people in charge of enterprises and institutions in the free trade area attended the activity.

Staff with Shenzhen Intellectual Property Rights Center, one of the activity organizers, gave a brief introduction to its expanded overseas operation of IPR protection, and the one-stop services it offers to the “going global” enterprises in IPR protection overseas in response to the difficulties faced by most Shenzhen enterprises while expanding their business overseas. The services include early risk warning, IPR case monitoring and resources integration, among others.

Official statistics showed that Shenzhen topped the country in 2020 in terms of the number and value of goods seized that have infringed IPR as Shenzhen Customs has stepped up the crackdown on IPR infringement. The number of IPR-infringing goods seized in 2020 accounted for 80 percent of the total number of that in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

In recent years, Shenzhen Administration For Market Regulation (SZAFMR) has adopted a variety of supportive policies on IPR protection, including subsidies and rewards, to stimulate innovation and creativity of the enterprises in the city. It was released by the SZAFMR at the event that more supportive projects on IPR protection will be introduced this year.

Other institutions, such as the Qianhai court and the Qianhai procuratorate, also introduced the efforts and the innovative measures they’d taken in IPR protection at the event.

The campaign kicked off the Qianhai IPR Week, during which government agencies will organized various activities to promote IPR.
