Qianhai’s transportation advantage attractive to enterprisesA number of well-known domestic and foreign enterprises have relocated their business operations or established branch offices in Qianhai for the convenient transportation system of the free trade area.

Qianhai will have an extensive transport network that consists of several intercity rail lines connecting cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, expressways and sea-crossing bridges to other GBA cities after the construction projects are completed.

Currently, several infrastructure projects, including the Qianhai extension of the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity Rail, the undersea tunnel of the Qianhai section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Riverside Expressway, the underground interchange hub at the Dachen Bay area where the riverside expressway will be connected to the Nanping Expressway, and the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, are under construction.

Construction will soon start on the Shenzhen-Zhuhai Sea-crossing Bridge and the Shenzhen-Zhuhai High-speed Rail.

In addition, the Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone is close to the Shenzhen and Hong Kong airports, as well as Shenzhen’s western port area.

The geographical convenience of the Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone has attracted many logistics enterprises, including Li & Fung, YH Global and East Top, to move in.

“A cluster of businesses of cross-border e-commerce, parallel-import cars, as well as transfer and consolidation of international goods has taken shape in the bonded zone,” said Zhu Zhiqiang, assistant to director of the management department of the Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

According to Zhu, over 780,000 square meters of warehouse have been built in the 2.9-square-kilometer bonded zone. Hong Kong-funded Li & Fung is one of the logistics companies that have relocated business to the bonded zone.

In August 2020, Li & Fung opened an 80,000-square-meter high-end consumer goods distribution center in Qianhai. More than 200 million pieces of commodities were distributed from the center last year.

"If a consumer in the Asia-Pacific region places an order, they will receive the package in 72 hours,” said Hu Yabing, senior executive vice president of Li & Fung. “The commodities they purchase will be quickly sorted from more than 60,000 kinds of products in our center, while the customs declaration procedures are being completed online. And the goods will be transported to the Hong Kong airport through a green channel.”
