60 smart bus stations put into service

Some 60 intelligent bus stations were put into service in Qianhai on March 2.

The bus stations, which are along the bus routes connecting to Metro lines 5 and 9, and passing by the other places including Menghai Boulevard, Qianhai Boulevard and the Longhai Home Community, integrate multiple functions, such as displaying information on bus routes, handling passenger complaints and public security surveillance.

The bus stations are installed with monitoring cameras to capture smokers. Their facial features will be shown on a display screen with the application of the artificial intelligence video recognition technology. A voice reminder will be sent out to the smokers, telling them to stopsmoking at the bus station and in other public places.

Additionally, passengers can get the real-time location and estimated arrival time of the buses and look for all kinds of information about the surrounding area on the display screen, such as hospitals, schools, residences and Metro stations. Passengers can also view how crowded the buses are before deciding which bus to take, ensuring a more comfortable riding experience.

These stations are the first phase of Qianhai’s intelligent bus station construction project.
