QH’s ecological conservation efforts paying off

Qianhai was praised by local resident representatives and experts at the 2020 Meeting on Ecological Civilization Construction Review of Shenzhen for its high standards in ecological construction.

The air quality and water conditions in Qianhai have been significantly improved following years of efforts. Last year, the annual average concentration of fine particulate matter, or PM 2.5, in Qianhai dropped to 18.1 micrograms per cubic meter. The water quality of the Shuangjie, Guiwan and Qianwan rivers has been greatly improved, surpassing the water quality rating of Category V.

Qianhai has constructed a digital environment monitoring system and built a drainage system that separates rain and sewage. The building information modeling (BIM) technology has also been fully applied to engineering projects to achieve efficient use of resources and space.

Qianhai has also taken the lead in launching the “near-zero carbon emissions” research to promote energy-efficient technologies and implementing the city’s most stringent drainage standards to achieve a 100 percent efficiency rate of recycling and treatment of waste water.

A centralized cooling system consisting of 10 air-conditioning stations is also under construction in Qianhai. The first phase of the No. 2 and No. 10 stations has been put into operation, providing cooling air to 2.83 million square meters of office space.
