Construction on the Qianhai section of Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity Rail, the first self-funded intercity rail of Shenzhen, has sped up to open as early as possible.

Constructed by the Power Construction Corporation of China, the 15-kilometer section from Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport to Qianhai is scheduled to be completed in 2024. It has three stations: Xixiang, Bao’an and Qianhai.

Since the construction started on June 29 last year, more than 400 workers with over 30 sets of equipment have been working at the Qianhai Station construction site.

Power China has adopted a series of advanced innovative construction technologies such as multi-machine joint trenching, UAV cruise inspection and building information modeling (BIM) to set up a benchmark for the city’s future railway construction projects.

During construction, relevant governmental agencies including the Qianhai authority and the city’s rail construction headquarters office have provided timely and convenient services to help the construction company solve the problems and restrictions encountered and ensure the legality and compliance of the project.

The rail will be connected with other Pearl River Delta cities through links with the Foshan-Dongguan rail, Dongguan-Huizhou rail and Guangzhou-Foshan rail to serve both inter-city travelers and commuters in Shenzhen.

Upon completion of the project, the role of Qianhai as a transportation hub is expected to be further enhanced.
