New QH-Bao’an sea tunnel project approved

Traffic between Qianhai and Bao’an will become more convenient when another sea tunnel project is completed in 2023.

The construction plan of the sea tunnel was recently approved by the city’s planning and natural resources bureau.

According to the plan, the 5.5-kilometer sea tunnel, including a 1.6-kilometer underwater section through the Qianhai Bay, will connect Linhai Boulevard in the Guiwan area with Xixiang Boulevard in Bao’an District.

The tunnel is part of the first phase of the project of Haibin Boulevard, which is between Houhaibin Road in Nanshan and Songfu Boulevard in Bao’an.

Currently, the Mawan Cross-Sea Passage, the city’s first sea tunnel, is under construction. The passage will link Yueliangwan Boulevard in Qianhai and the Dachan Bay Tollgate of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Riverside Expressway when completed in 2023.
