The Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority will partner with Guangzhou-based Jinan University (JNU) to jointly build four platforms in the free trade area for the development of youth from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and overseas Chinese, it was disclosed at a signing ceremony in Qianhai on Nov. 28.

A total of 15 projects are expected to be carried out on the platforms, offering opportunities of internship, exchange and research, as well as assistance to innovation and entrepreneurship to youth from overseas.

Huang Min, secretary of the Party committee of the Qianhai authority, said at the ceremony that the strategic cooperation between Qianhai and Jinan University is aimed to promote broader and deeper exchange among young people from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

“Qianhai strives to provide an ideal environment for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan youth to pursue their dreams, and serve as the first stop of their work and life on the Chinese mainland,” Huang said.

Lin Rupeng, Party chief of the university, said their cooperation aims to explore a new model that combines academic research with regional development to create more opportunities and better conditions for international talents and to form a new driver for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area construction.

Jinan University is one of the higher education institutions in China known for their large number of overseas students. The cooperation between Qianhai and the university is an important move to integrate young people from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as the overseas Chinese youth into the overall development of China.
