Notary service allows HKer handle inheritance procedures at home

A Hong Kong resident surnamed Chan has recently completed all the procedures for inheriting her husband’s property in Shenzhen without traveling from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, thanks to the convenient inheritance service launched by the Qianhai Notary Office.

Handling inheritance procedures in Shenzhen used to be troublesome for Hong Kongers, which required the applicant to frequently travel between the two cities to submit and collect materials.

Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, traveling between Hong Kong and Shenzhen became inconvenient due to the mandatory quarantine measures. To address Chan’s problem, the Qianhai Notary Office coordinated with a notary office in Hong Kong to find a Hong Kong notary public to handle the notarization and registration of transfer procedures on Chan’s behalf.

As a result, Chan has successfully completed all the procedures and received her property ownership certificate.

To better serve the Hong Kong enterprises and residents, the Qianhai Notary Office has established a special window at their service hall to handle Hong Kong and Macao-related affairs.

Over the past five years, the office concluded 8,935 notarization services related to Hong Kong affairs. Among them, 526 notarization certificates were sent to Hong Kongers for use.
