A delegation of Mr. Lui Tuck Yew, Singapore’s ambassador to China, paid a visit to the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone on Nov. 17.

At the Qianhai Exhibition Hall, Mr. Lui was briefed on the development history of Qianhai over the past 10 years and its future development plan.

Mr. Lui said that when he visited Qianhai seven years ago, there was nothing but vacant lots and he was marveled at the dramatic changes of Qianhai.

The delegation also made a tour to the Qianhai International Conference Center where they viewed an exhibition demonstrating the reform and opening up achievements of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone since its establishment 40 years ago.

In recent years, Qianhai has maintained a good friendship with Singapore. Statistics from the Qianhai authority show that since 2013, the authority has received 53 Singapore delegations with a total of 857 personnel. As of September, there are 122 Singapore companies registered in Qianhai, with a contractual foreign investment of US$1.18 billion.

The Qianhai authority is planning to establish a bilateral cooperation mechanism with Singapore through enhanced mutual exchanges and to explore deeper cooperation opportunities in financial, scientific and cultural sectors, and the construction of smart city.
