The No. 6 Landscape Bridge in Qianhai received a provincial-level honor recently, being designated an exemplary project in urban engineering in Guangdong, according to sources from the Guangdong Municipal Engineering Association.

Extending over the Guimiao River corridor, the bridge is an important link of the Guiwan and Dachanwan areas in Qianhai. It is among the first few landscape bridges to have been built in Qianhai, and one of the two fish-belly beam bridges in China.

The bridge is named “Wave of The Sea,” as people would feel like walking in waves when on the footpath of the bridge, which has a bottom in the shape of two fish bellies.

There is a string of holes between the two fish belly-shaped bridge bodies to let light through, generating different light and shadow effects on the water surface of the Guimiao River.

Xu Pan, project manager of the No. 6 Landscape Bridge, said that the bridge has a theme: Man and nature in harmony. “It is more like a channel for people to connect with nature and the ocean, than just a simple transport infrastructure.”
