The Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity Rail will further extend eastward from Qianhai to Huanggang Checkpoint in Futian District, passing through Nanshan District, according to a plan recently released by the Shenzhen Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau.

The 21.2-kilometer-long extension was designed to operate at 160 kilometers per hour and has two stations: Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base in Nanshan District and Huanggang Checkpoint in Futian District. The two stations will be connected with Metro lines and other intercity rails to form comprehensive transport hubs.

The intercity rail will offer a fast transit from Qianhai to downtown Shenzhen after its completion.

More information regarding the planned extension is available at http://pnr.sz.gov.cn/, the official website of the bureau, and feedback is welcomed by emailing to szjtc@pnr.sz.gov.cn before the Nov. 25 deadline.

Construction has been under way to extend the intercity rail from the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport to Qianhai. It is scheduled to be completed in 2024.

The Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity Rail has begun service in December last year from Guangzhou’s Xintang to the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, offering a quick link for travelers between the three cities.

On Guangzhou’s side, the rail will be extended to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport through a link with Xintang Station.

It will be connected with other Pearl River Delta cities through links with the Foshan-Dongguan rail, Dongguan-Huizhou rail and Guangzhou-Foshan rail.
