Online seminar held on GBA construction

More than 130 experts and practitioners from the engineering and construction fields in Hong Kong attended a Sept. 25 online seminar on the opportunities brought by the ongoing construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Hong Kong Institute of Architects and the Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority, senior Hong Kong experts and architects shared with the audience the responsibility system of Hong Kong architects as well as some successful construction plans in the GBA. The online seminar served as a platform for the exchanges and cooperation among the government agencies, industry associations and professionals in Guangdong and Hong Kong.

Staff with the Qianhai authority introduced the opportunities and prospects for Hong Kong construction organizations, enterprises and professionals in Qianhai.

So far, 39.55 hectares of land parcels in Qianhai, or 43.2 percent of the total, have been sold to Hong Kong-funded companies for development. Nearly 50 Hong Kong construction institutes have invested more than 2 billion yuan (US$293.2 million) in Qianhai and 145 professionals are working in Qianhai.

It was announced at the seminar that the Qianhai authority and HKTDC will jointly work out two policies to remove the barriers for Hong Kongers to work on the Chinese mainland. Qianhai will further open the construction market for Hong Kong enterprises and professionals.
