Qianhai Digital Trade Industry Promotion Alliance, which aims to promote the development of the digital economy, especially the digital trade industry, was set up Wednesday at a digital trade industry summit at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District.

Initiated by famed local institutions and enterprises and with the support from the authority of Qianhai, the alliance is expected to boost technological innovation, further open up the services sector in Qianhai and grasp the opportunities generated by the changes made in global trade.

“It has been estimated that by the year of 2023 the digital trade industry will bring us over a trillion yuan (US$147 billion) of output value, foster over 1,000 professionals and help more than 10 pilot projects to grow in the area,” said Xu Wenyun, general manager of Qianhai Inno-Tech Investment. “We hope to form an eco-system of the digital trade industry in Qianhai and build the area into a national model area of the industry in 2025.”

To power the development of the alliance and the industry, the projects relating to the digital supply chain, high-end products digital trading and cross-border services signed on to be incubated by the alliance, and one digital trade industry research institution was planned to be built in Qianhai. China Unicom also signed a strategic framework with Qianhai Inno-Tech Investment.

At the summit, senior executives from local enterprises also made keynote speeches, discussing the prospects of China’s digital trade industry.
