SOE undergoes fast growth in Qianhai

The State-owned Shenzhen Ocean Shipping Co. Ltd. has greatly enhanced its market competitiveness in the management of shipping vessels and its provisioning of related shipping services since its relocation to Qianhai last year.

The Shenzhen Ocean Shipping Co. has become a renowned name in the shipping sector following fast growth in the free trade area where preferential policies on office rent, tax reduction and subsidized housing among other aspects have been introduced to help boost the real economy.

The development of this State-owned enterprise has attracted a number of companies in the shipping sector to move their daily operations to the free trade area, contributing to Qianhai’s creation of a high-end industrial cluster of shipping enterprises.

A subsidiary of the State-owned conglomerate China COSCO Shipping Group, the Shenzhen Ocean Shipping Co. is the first and largest enterprise of its kind in Shenzhen. It is also the city’s first joint venture in the shipping sector and the first to obtain a Document of Compliance.

In January 2019, Shenzhen Ocean Shipping signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement and an action plan with the Qianhai authority.

Under the influence of Qianhai’s construction of a high-end shipping service center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and of an international hub port, Shenzhen Ocean Shipping will help boost the development of the shipping industry in the free trade area.
