- No.3 Berths of Mawan port ready for service

Transformed from four old bulk shipping berths at the Manwan port, the 5G technology-based No. 3 Berths were unveiled at a ceremony yesterday morning marking the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone.
The No. 3 smart berths are part of the construction of the Mawan Smart Port with the application of emerging high-technologies such as blockchain, Beidou GPS and the 5G network.
With the aim of becoming the first smart port in the country, the construction of the Mawan Smart Port, with an investment of 4.37 billion yuan (US$631.46 million), is an important step for Shenzhen’s move to build a world-class ocean city, according to Tian Fu, member of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC and director of the Authority of China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone Qianhai and Shekou Area, at the ceremony.
“Qianhai will work closely with China Merchants Port Group Co. Ltd., the operator of the Mawan port, to build the Mawan Smart Port,” which will further enhance the customs clearance efficiency at the port,” Tian said.
The construction of the Mawan Smart Port is also crucial to upgrading the entire Shenzhen port.
