Construction on the first phase of the Qianhai Kerry Center is slated to complete next month.

The Qianhai Kerry Center, developed by Kerry Properties on a land parcel at the intersection of Qianwan Road 1 and Tinghai Boulevard in the Qianwan area, is the first commercial project in Qianhai since the free trade area was inaugurated in 2015. It is also the first major project invested by a large Hong Kong company in Qianhai.

According to Duan Linnan, vice general manager of Kerry Properties Shenzhen company, the people-oriented design of the project makes the Qianhai Kerry Center blend in with its surrounding natural environment.

Covering a total area of 68,800 square meters, the Qianhai Kerry Center will be developed in three phases. The majority of the first phase, with a total floor space of 195,000 square meters, will be office buildings, taking up 120,000 square meters in floor space. It will also contain 60,000-square-meter of serviced apartments, and the rest 14,500 square meters are for commercial use.

The second phase, jointly development by Kerry Properties and Hong Kong-based The Bank of East Asia, will have office buildings, commercial space and an up-market hotel. Construction on the main structures of two office buildings will finish this year.

Construction started on the third phase Dec. 31, last year. In addition to office buildings and commercial structures, there will be a 2,000-square-meter technology center and a bus terminal in the third phase of Qianhai Kerry Center.

Duan said the Qianhai Kerry Center project will be finished two months ahead of schedule thanks to a number of facilitating measures the Qianhai authority has adopted.

According to Duan, construction on the underground foundation of the Qianhai Kerry Center was allowed to start while the project contractors were in the process of obtaining construction permits, which greatly enhanced the efficiency of the project development.

Duan said the Qianhai authority has also helped connect his company with businesses intended to move in the Qianhai Kerry Center. He said he was also appreciated for the preferential personal income tax rate that the Qianhai authority has introduced for Hong Kong employees working in Qianhai.
