Winners of the Qianhai-Hong Kong Youth Architecture Design Competition received their prizes at an award ceremony in Hong Kong on July 6.

The competition was to solicit the design of a public service building in the Guiwan Park in Qianhai, which covers an area of 1,690 square meters and is expected to be completed in April next year.

Themed “Bathing in the forest,” the first-prize design integrates technology elements with nature to create a tranquil place where people can relax and appreciate the beauty of nature.

The winners will be invited to serve as design consultants of the Guiwan Park project.

The competition attracted 140 young designers from Hong Kong.  Eight prize winners were selected from the professional group and three prize-winners from the student group.

Xie Huihui, vice director of the Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority said that the competition has promoted exchanges between Shenzhen and Hong Kong professionals and has also added Hong Kong elements to the construction in Qianhai.

“Through their high-quality works, the contestants have made contributions to the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area,” Xie said.

The competition is hosted by Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority and is sponsored by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, the Hong Kong Institute of Planners, and the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects.
