A pleasant environment, rich opportunities, a land of innovation and entrepreneurship, that is how Lin Wenjian, co-founder of an online video library company thinks of Qianhai.
Lin’s company, Qianhai CED (Shenzhen) Technology Innovation Co. Ltd., settled at the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub last year. Since his settlement, Lin has benefited from various favorable policies from the Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority, including the low-rent housing, office rent reduction, and subsidies for joint venture funded by Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan entrepreneurs.
Lin has also signed up for the 5th Qianhai-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, which awards 7 million yuan (US$979,020) to the winners and is now open for application.
“The competition has attracted entrepreneurs from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Dozens of investment institutions are also invited to offer suggestions and the winning projects will have the chance to obtain investment, which is quite appealing for startups like us,” Lin said.
Shenzhen, which is famed as “a city of libraries,” has a strong reading atmosphere. In Lin’s mind, residents in Qianhai should have their own library, so that reading can become more convenient and interesting.
“With my online video library product, I hope to enrich peoples’ lives and convey the values of lifelong learning. Qianhai is an ideal place to start a career, I believe my dreams will be fulfilled here,” said Lin.
