Qianhai will further push forward construction on 235 projects with a total investment of 58.6 billion yuan (US$8.19 billion) this year, moving closer to the building of a new urban center.

Among the projects, the Qianhai International Conference Center will emerge as one of the new landmarks in Qianhai this year. Other public facilities such as Guiwan Riverside Park and the second phase of Bauhinia Garden will also be ready to greet visitors.

Facelifts will be carried out to improve the general landscaping of the free trade area, with focuses on Mawan, the central business district of Bao’an and the Dachan Bay area.

New infrastructure construction such as the 5G network and Qianhai Information Hub is also high on Qianhai’s agenda, as it is expected to power the high-quality economic development in the free trade area.

Qianhai will have a 5G network that covers most of its areas in June when 289 5G base stations are built.

Infrastructure projects like the Yueliangwan Interchange and the Mawan Cross-sea Passage, as well as a number of intercity railways, will make Qianhai a transportation hub, upon completion.

Some 28.73 billion yuan will be invested in 43 real estate projects this year. By the end of September, 23 office buildings of nine projects will be put into use, offering 1.13 million square meters of office space. In addition, the Qianhai authority will offer land parcels of 452,000 square meters for development, among which 204,000 square meters of land are designated for commercial use and the rest 248,000 square meters are for public welfare use.

Qianhai will also invest 30 billion yuan on 25 projects in the sectors of public services, education and sports, and science innovation.
