It will be more convenient to travel between Shenzhen and Zhuhai by car after the construction of the Shenzhu (Shenzhen-Zhuhai) Sea-crossing Bridge is completed.

The bridge will start at Qianhai and end at Tangjiawan Township in Zhuhai, passing through Zhongshan and Zhuhai’s Lianzhou Township. The bridge will be extended further westward to the Gaolan Port of Zhuhai, Taishan and other cities in western Guangdong. In the east, the Shenzhu sea-crossing bridge will be connected to Shenzhen-Guangzhou Riverside Expressway and Nanping Expressway in Shenzhen.

Between the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Shenzhong (Shenzhen-Zhongshan) Corridor, the 46.5-km-long Shenzhu bridge will have eight vehicle lanes in two ways with a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour and four rail tracks.

It will take about 30 minutes to drive from Shenzhen to Zhuhai after the bridge is put into service, greatly shortening the time of more than three hours it currently needs due to detours.

In a separate development, an underground tunnel linking Qianhai and Bao’an District will be built as part of the extension project of Haibin Boulevard.

Section A of Phase I of the extension project starts from Tinghai Road in Qianhai and goes to Xixiang Boulevard in Bao’an. In the southern end, the tunnel will be connected with Guimiao Road through an underground interchange with Tinghai Road. It will then go northward passing Qianhai Bay through an underground tunnel, bridges and ground road and finishing at the interchange with Xixiang Boulevard.

The 5.5-kilometer extension includes a 1.6-kilometer portion under the Qianhai Bay and a 3.9-kilometer portion in Bao’an District.
