Enterprises in the Qianhaiwan Free Trade Port Area will be subsidized for the premium of the anti-COVID-19 insurance policy they purchase for the resumption of work amid the pandemic, according to a policy recently adopted by Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority.

The policy has been formulated to address the economic losses that the enterprises sustain from possible business lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The insurance policy covers expenses incurred from the shutdown of the business premises, employees’ deaths, hospitalization, nucleic acid tests against the virus, as well as quarantine-related expenses.

Enterprises which are based in the first and second phases of the port area, the CMG Marine Center and the port’s office building will all be eligible for the insurance premium subsidy.

An enterprise covered by the insurance will receive up to 5 million yuan (US$703,749) in compensation depending on the specific insurance plan. The insurance premium is 900 yuan per company, which will be paid for by the Qianhai authority.

Enterprises will be subsidized only if they purchase the insurance before May 26. Insurance companies are required to submit the insurance materials of the enterprises to the Qianhai authority for verification between May 27 and 29.

A list of enterprises eligible for the subsidy will be publicized for three days for public scrutiny, after which the insurance policies will become effective.
