Since the inauguration of Qianhai and Shekou free trade area, more and more talented individuals have been seeking opportunities in the area due to its favorable policies, desirable business environment and livable spaces.

Kumbayeva Aigerim, a Kazakh lawyer, has been working in Qianhai as a lawyer since 2015. “This is my first job in China and I'm quite satisfied with my career here in Qianhai. Favorable policies such as low-rent talent housing and preferential personal income tax rate have eased financial burdens for me,” she said.

Aigerim's company, Sincere Qianhai Law Offices, is a legal service institution that has partnered with Qianhai Cooperation Zone People’s Court to provide mediation services and is responsible for recommending foreign mediators.

Aigerim is among the 10 foreign mediators who have participated in the 34 cases of the court as of April this year. The international mediation system has provided a suitable stage for talented people like Aigerim to take advantage of their language skills and legal expertise.

“The multicultural and international environment in Qianhai has helped me accumulate valuable knowledge and experience in terms of how to work with Chinese clients. The business environment here is among the best in China and I think my future plans are definitely related to Qianhai,” she said.

Yao Gang, an entrepreneur who settled his company at Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub (E-hub) in 2017, also spoke highly of the business environment.

“In recent years, we have received all kinds of support from the Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority. Startups like us are exempted from office rent for the first year of development and then we enjoyed subsidized office rent starting the second year. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the office rent has even been waived, which significantly lowered our operational costs,” Yao said.

“In addition, the convenient transportation, streamlined administrative procedures, and the ever-changing urban appearance have made it an ideal place for start-ups,” he added.

Yao’s company, NextWiFi Technologies, provides commercial Wi-Fi services for enterprises, shopping malls and hotels. Products created by the company have won awards in various entrepreneurial competitions.

“The entrepreneurial competitions sponsored by the Qianhai authority have provided us a platform to demonstrate our products to potential clients and investors. The prize money we won is also helpful for our company’s development and operation,” he said.
