A batch of intelligent temperature measurement robots have been put into service for Qianhai's COVID-19 prevention and control efforts after completing the whole production process of project planning, product design, and quantitative production in only 10 days.
Developed by Walnutt Technology, a start-up company in Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub (E-hub), the robot can simultaneously check the body temperatures of multiple people at a distance of five meters. In case an individual is caught having a fever, the robot will send out an alarm.
Peng Yiheng, founder of the company, said that the robot has attracted wide attention and the company has received thousands of orders by now. “It is just a short-term project, which will not bring much profit to our team. The robot is produced to help companies that have resumed work and production to rapidly check the temperature of their staff. We just want to contribute to the epidemic efforts with our technology and products”, said Peng.
According to Peng, the company will donate some robots to the E-hub. During the epidemic period, the company’s office rent and property management fees，including air-conditioning, fee for February and March were waived by the Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority.The total office rent waived for the start-up teams in the E-hub reached three million yuan.
“The major expenses for a start-up company like us are the office rent and labor costs. We have enjoyed a rent reduction of 100,000 yuan, that is a great help to us”, said Peng.
Qianhai has provided Hong Kong-funded enterprises with capital subsidies, rent reductions, and other favorable policies to reduce the impact of the epidemic.
Currently, over 70 percent of the Hong Kong-funded enterprises in Qianhai have resumed work and production, with nearly 2,000 employees at work. The epidemic has not made a major impact on their annual target. The Hong Kong-funded companies are maintaining a good momentum of development in Qianhai.
Hong Kong-funded companies such as Walnutt also made great efforts to the national epidemic fight. Apart from the robot, the company have also donated 15,000 masks to Hubei Province，the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak.
