Enterprises can now complete collection, forwarding, distribution and consolidation of international cargos in Qianhaiwan Free Trade Port Area after the Qianhai central warehouse consolidation service was launched by Sinotrans Ltd.
Under the multi-country consolidation (MCC) Qianhai model, the service will enable enterprises to take cargos ready for distribution, consolidation, forwarding and customs clearance into the port before declaring them to the customs. It will save the enterprises time and costs.
"The international trade industry faces great challenge as the COVID-19 pandemic is raging worldwide. Sinotrans chose Qianhai to launch the service because of its good business environment, customs clearance efficiency and development prospects,” said Ni Yong, vice director of Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority.
A subsidiary of China Merchants Group, Sinotrans has developed into the largest platform for container consolidation in China.
The annual throughput of Sinotrans reached 8.26 million cubic meters of cargos last year. It has handled exports worth of US$ 5.7 billion and 130,000 TEU (twenty-feet equivalent unit) of imports and exports in 2019, taking up 15 percent and 60 percent of the market share of China and Shenzhen, respectively.
The Qianhaiwan Free Trade Port ranked No. 1 among the 14 bonded ports in the country in terms of the total volume of import and export and the output per unit area last year. The total volume of import and export through the port reached 24.65 billion yuan (US$3.59 billion) in the first two months of this year, up 83.4 percent from the same period last year.
Currently, the port has more than 140 international shipping routes to 18 countries and regions in six continents. The container throughput of the port hit a record high at 10.81 million TEUs last year.
