16 roads put into service in Qianhai

The second batch of roads in the construction of a new urban center in Qianhai, including 16 arteries, were put into service yesterday morning.

Tian Fu, director of the Authority of China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone Qianhai & Shekou Area and director of the new urban center construction headquarters, announced the official opening of the roads at a ceremony.

The 16 roads cover a total of 4.9 kilometers.

Binhai Boulevard has eight lanes in two directions. It intersects with Linhai Boulevard on the west side and is expected to connect with Guimiao Road through Yueliangwan Flyover next year, which will serve as an expressway between Qianhai and the exterior areas.

Surrounding Guiwan financial area, eight roads have been constructed to improve the regional traffic conditions, including Tinghai Boulevard, Jingu South Street 1, Jingu South Street 2, Guiwan Road 5, Finance Street, Guiwan Street, Finance East Street and Finance Street 2.

Yihai Boulevard, Free Trade Street and Tonggang Street have further enhanced the traffic capacity of the area near Qianhai Free Trade Tower and Shimao Qianhai Center.

So far this year, Qianhai has made continuous efforts to improve its transportation infrastructure. The first batch of roads and bridges, including 10 arteries and three landscape bridges, were announced open Apr. 24, which realized the direct connection between the Guiwan, Qianwan and Mawan areas, as well as between Qianhai and Bao’an. The Metro Line 5 extension was put into operation Sept. 28. The Metro Line 9 extension will also be opened early this month. Currently, Qianhai has four Metro lines and nine Metro stations.

Xie Huihui, deputy director of the Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority, Liu Wen, deputy general manager of Shenzhen Metro Group, and representatives from the Shenzhen Municipal Housing and Construction Bureau, the Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority, the Development and Reform Bureau of Nanshan District, the Bao'an District Government, the Nanshan District Government and their front-line workers attended the ceremony.
