The Dream Factory of China

The liquid heat dissipation technology project from Blue Ocean and the Shenzhen Xihua Techonology Co. Ltd. won the gold prize at the finals of the fourth Qianhai Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition on Dec.5, attracting 300-some entrepreneurs from 30 projects to participate.

The winners entering the final competition split a 3-million-yuan (US$426,000) prize. Each of the two gold-prize winners, four silver-prize winners, and six bronze-prize winners won 300,000 yuan, 200,000 yuan, and 100,000 yuan, respectively. Several honorable mentions and individual awards were also presented to the contestants.

The 30 projects were from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan that had stood out from about 2,000 projects. The finals consisted of a project review and an elevator speech, which required the participants to make a concise statement of the project within one minute.

Heads of well-known investment companies and entrepreneurial service institutions from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, such as Green Pine Capital Partners, Leaguer Group Co. Ltd., Oriental Fortune Capital, Radiant Venture Capital, and Shenzhen HTI Group Co. Ltd., were invited to the competition to serve as judges and provide professional comments on the projects.

Since its launch in 2016, the competition has attracted more than 3,000 projects, including over 1,000 from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The competition has promoted the transformation of scientific and technological achievements from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and has played a positive role in attracting Hong Kong and Macao youngsters to start businesses on the mainland, integrating the innovation and entrepreneurship resources, and promoting the cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao in various fields.

The fourth session of the competition has several highlights compared with the previous sessions. First, the number of participating projects reached a historical high, with more than 2,000 projects participating in the competition. Second, the quality of the projects continued to improve, covering a wide range of fields and involving many industries. Third, the number of cooperative projects between Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan entrepreneurs has increased, the entrepreneurs exerted their own advantages to cooperate with each other, which strengthened their mutual communication and understanding.

The competition is initiated by the Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority and is co-organized by Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission, Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of Shenzhen, Taiwan Affairs Office of Shenzhen, Economic Bureau of Macao S.A.R Government, PKU-HKUST ShenZhen-HongKong Institution, and universities, research institutes, entrepreneurship parks, youth associations from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Heads of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority, Shenzhen Media Group, Shenzhen Office of Hong Kong S.A.R Government, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R, and Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Shenzhen attended the event.
