Qianhai enterprises can now have the customs clearance processed for their import and export business online, thanks to a new online service window launched by Shenzhen Customs.

Previously it was required to complete the customs clearance at the service window of the customs.

The online service window can be found on the official Shenzhen Customs WeChat account during the COVID-19 prevention and control period. The contactless service reduces the risk of virus exposure.

A staff member with the China Merchants Bonded Logistics said that the service enables them to complete customs clearance from home instead of making a visit to the service hall. In addition, Shekou Customs has notified enterprises in the Qianhaiwan Free Trade Port Area online of its latest favorable policies and check the operation status of enterprises. The customs also provides guidance on anti-epidemic measures such as medical supply reserves, warehouse disinfection and taking body temperatures.

Affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, a number of China's international routes and shipping schedules have been reduced or cancelled, and many inbound and outbound cargoes could not be delivered on time. To address the problem, the customs launched the “MCC Qianhai Plus” logistics model to provide a convenient logistics channel for enterprises during COVID-19 prevention efforts.

This model realizes the air-freight integration between overseas countries, Hong Kong and Qianhaiwan by leveraging the aviation advantages of Hong Kong International Airport and the intermodal transportation methods between Hong Kong and Qianhai. Import and export cargoes can be transported through Hong Kong airport in a timely manner.

According to Shenzhen Customs, in January this year, import and export volumes in Qianhai reached 1,740 tons, worth of US$79.97 million, up 112.3 percent year-on-year and 47.7 percent month-on-month.

In addition, relying on this model, Shenzhen Customs and the Red Cross Society of China Shenzhen Branch have created a "green rescue channel for Qianhai medical supplies."

As of Feb. 18, a total of 4.22 million pieces of medical supplies have been imported in 37 batches through the green channel, which has contributed virus prevention and control in Qianhai and is praised by the public.
