Eight Qianhai workers were awarded the honorary title of “Qianhai Craftsman” at a ceremony held Dec. 11.

Xia Jiabin, a 56-year-old electrician, has been awarded the title of "Qianhai Craftsman" for two consecutive years. In his daily work, his first duty is to inspect the electrical equipment at the construction site. When he encounters difficulties in equipment maintenance, Xia will lead his team to fix the problem together. After the equipment is successfully maintained, he will listen to the opinions and suggestions of his workmates and apply them to practice.

This year, Fu Jiao won the “Qianhai Craftsman” title due to her excellent technical skills.

Fu is a tower crane director. She and her husband both work at the construction site of the Tencent Qianhai Digital Tower project.

"My husband is a tower crane operator and also my mentor for my tower crane director career. With his encouragement and guidance, I gradually fell in love with this job. The tacit cooperation between me and my husband has gradually made me confident in this job," Fu said.

She said that this is the best New Year gift for her husband and their child in their hometown.

This year’s Qianhai artisan competition lasted 36 days, and a total of 16 professional trainings and 14 skills competitions were organized. A total of 348 workers participated in the trainings, and 58 reached the finals of the competitions.

The event aims to further improve the quality of the construction projects in Qianhai and enhance the professional skills of front-line workers. Through the professional trainings, the spirit of craftsmanship – elaboration and excellence – were promoted among the front-line workers, which provided strong support for the construction of Qianhai, the new urban center of Shenzhen.
