Electronic invoice fully adopted in Qianhai

Taxpayers can now ask for an electronic invoice at the VAT invoice public service platform or Shenzhen blockchain electronic invoice platform, after the full adoption of electronic invoices in Qianhai by Shenzhen Taxation Service of State Taxation Administration on Jan. 1.

Wu Xiangchu, a tax officer with Shenzhen Jiatui Technology Co. Ltd., is a loyal client who gets electronic invoices from the blockchain electronic invoice platform. "I don’t have to go to the tax bureau to get invoices for the company anymore. You can also get an electronic invoice when taking a subway or a bus, making both my work and life easier," Wu said.

Chen Weizhong, director of the Qianhai taxation authority, explained that the electronic invoice service has been widely praised by taxpayers for its advantages, such as not requiring any hardware, the unlimited supply amount and not requiring tax filing or copying.

Li Wei, deputy director of the Shenzhen Taxation Service, said that the adoption of electronic invoices is a specific measure to optimize the business environment. In the future, more convenient taxation services will be provided to better serve taxpayers.

Since its launch in August 2018, more than 15 million blockchain-based invoices worth 9.64 billion yuan (US$ 1.38 billion) have been issued, covering various aspects of people’s livelihood, including catering, retail, transport and accommodation, which have saved about 20,000 Shenzhen residents’ time acquiring invoices each day.
